Munching a crosini on the loggia of Villa San Michele and gazing at Florence’s Duomo my meditation is interrupted by the loud hum of engines. Back home in California it might be a group of rowdy Harley Davidson riders, but here in the hills of Fiesole nothing so crass exists, and that makes me curious. |

Descending ancient stone steps that disappear into the chilly waters of Lago De Como I feel like the subject of a Dante Rossetti Pre-Raphaelite painting. Rain pelts my soft white terry robe as vapor billows from my mouth and nose. I look down to my feet flushed bright pink from cold lake water. |

Il Pellicano Resort is located just beyond the town of Porto Ercole Italy. A little known small coastal village that will no doubt be the next town to join the nearby crowds of popular yacht stops like Viareggio and Livorno. If I didn’t know where I was, I might guess Greece from the clarity of the water alone. The hotel is the love child of Michael Graham and Patsy Dalzell. Il Pellicano was conceived as an ode to their first encounter at Pellican Point in California. |
