Under a spreading mango tree, the One&Only Le Touessrok greets its guests. A small bridge curves over a koi pond to Le Touessrok’s grand foyer. Soothing white stucco walls are open towards the sea. One wall, hung with fine silk, is backlit to catch the full effect of silk swaying in a tropical breeze. |

Buxom vegetables, exotic labels of the virgin olive oils, subtle back-lighting - it could be art - but it’s the salad bar at Le Touessrok’s 398. Baby lettuces, curls of romaine and sprigs of watercress rest on ice. Artichokes to zucchinis, designer olive oils, aged vinegars and no less than five salts inspire my inner chef. The real salad chef stands at his post tossing tonight’s à la minute salad - mixed julienne vegetables on avocado with extra virgin Terre Bormano olive oil. |

Ms. Dominique’s French accent and the plumes of ferns mixed with delicate white lilies in the garden put me in the tropical island world of the Indian Ocean. Yet, the music is the same music that thumbs-of-steel, as I call my masseuse back home, plays. I fall into a dreamy world neither here at the Givenchy Spa in Mauritius nor on the Northern California coast of soft spa space. It’s a halcyon world of few thoughts and easy feelings. |
